Introduction: Doaba College, Jalandhar is one of the premier colleges where National Service Scheme (NSS) was introduced by the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Its prime aim is to develop overall personality of the youth of country. It organises seminars, one day camps, special seven day camps and many other events based on selfless service. NSS department of Doaba College Jalandhar is presently run by the coordinator Prof. Kanwaljeet Singh, Program officer Dr. Daljit Singh, Prof. Ranjeet Singh, Prof. Manjinder Sood, Dr. Natasha and Dr. Rakesh Kumar.

The camp was organized in collaboration with the medical team of doctors from Civil Hospital, Jalandhar. Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari also donated blood so as to sensitise students regarding the importance of blood donation. He also distributed certificates to the blood donors and encouraged them to motivate other students for this noble act. More than 50 students and staff members donated the blood. |

| 21. | 29,31-10-2022 | Celebration of National Unity Day | Doaba College, Jalandhar celebrated National Unity Day from 29th Oct. to 31st Oct. 2022. The Chief Guest, Commanding Officer of 2 Punjab Battalion inaugurated the exhibition on life of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel and efforts made by him for the unification of India after the independence. The Chief Guest also delivered a lecture on life and achievements of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel A Rashtriya Ekta Cycle Rally was organized in which forty students and seven staff members participated. All the staff members and students of the college took pledge to preserve Unity, Integrity and Security of the nation. A written Quiz Competition entitled “National Unity Quiz” was organized in which more than 50 students participated. |
| 22. | 17-01-2023 | “Traffic Rules Awareness” | NSS wing of Doaba College, Jalandhar organized a seminar on “Traffic Rules Awareness” on 17th January 2023 to celebrate Road Safety Week. 74 students and 25 teachers participated in the seminar. Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari greeted Sub Inspector Ranjit Singh and Asst. Sub Inspector Shamsher Singh with a sapling as token of love. Principal in his opening address threw the light on increasing traffic problem and its possible solution. Speaker of the day ASI Shamsher Singh started the session with the slogan “Road safety is life safety”. He instructed students to obey traffic rules and wear helmet and fasten seat belt while driving. He emphasized the fact that we should amend ourselves and follow the traffic rules first, only then we can find a possible solution to the problem. Through the medium of college and teachers speaker requested not to give motor vehicles to underage children. The speaker also gave importance to vehicle fitness i.e Headlights, tail lights, indicators and brakes should be in good functioning condition. |
| 23. | 02-02-2023 | One day NSS camp | The NSS unit of Doaba College, Jalandhar organized one day NSS camp cum awareness campaign on “Solid Waste Management” on 02.02.2023. Seventy five NSS volunteers participated in the camp. The programme started with the floral welcome of Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Principal Doaba College Jalandhar. Prof. Ranjit, Programme officer, NSS Unit of Doaba College Jalandhar introduced audience to the objective, scope and activities of NSS. Dr. Shivika, Co-coordinator of Eco Club, Doaba College Jalandhar, shed light on the segregation of dry and wet waste and its management to keep our surroundings clean. She also motivated the students to understand the concept of reduce, reuse and recycles by highlighting the adverse impacts of waste on environment. NSS volunteers actively participated in the camp by cleaning the campus and added organic manure to flower beds. Dr. Arshdeep Singh, Coordinator of NSS, presented formal vote of thanks. Certificates were distributed to those students who actively participated in the camp. Prof. Rajni Dhir acted as stage secretary. |
