Field visit to Jagran Prakshan Limited

PG department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Doaba College, organized field visit to Jagran Prakshan Limited, Jalandhar. Mr. Arundeep Singh, Chief Sub Editor, Punjabi Jagran, introduced the students to various departments of Dainik Jagran, including, publication, circulation and technical department. He  also shared steps undertaken by the organization in order to tackle various impediments. Mr. Varinder Singh Walia, Editor, Punjabi Jagran addressed the students and highlighted the importance of ethics in journalism in the age of Artificial intelligence and Chatgpt. He stressed upon how a journalist needs to adapt technical skills in order to grow in this field. Various technical terms like CTP, Computer to Plate, Gatekeeping etc which are being used in media were also discussed. Dr. Simran Sidhu, Head, PG Department of Journalism & Mass Communication said that such industrial visits are beneficial as students are exposed to changing media scenario. Twenty eight students along with faculty members including, Dr. Simran Sidhu, Ms. Anjali Bhardwaj and Ms. Navneet Kaur visited Jagran Publication Limited.
