As part of the celebration of 75 years of India's Independence, Doaba College Jalandhar has been selected to celebrate International Yoga Day on 21/6/22 in association with Bharat Swabhiman Trust and Patanjali Yog Samiti. Inspite of the heavy rain around 1300 enthusiastic participants attended the event. An expert yoga teacher, Mrs. Kiran Chadda initially briefed about the essence of yoga and thereafter, held a long practice session with demonstrations of various asanas. The participants were introduced to several sitting and standing exercises; yog asanas - Ardha chakrasana, Trikonasana,Vajrasana, Kapalbhati, Pranayama, Dhyana and Sankalpa. Mr. Rajeshwar explained the benefits of each asana. Mr. Rajinder Shingari demonstrated Singh asana, Shirshasana, Halasana alongwith Haasya yog. Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Principal, Doaba College welcomed all and focused on the significance of doing things by heart. The Chief guest, Mr. Raman Arora,MLA, quoted from Gurbani to highlight the importance of Yoga for health. Mr. Jaspreet and his team enthralled the audience with Bhangra.The event concluded with a vote of Thanks by Mr. Rajeshwar. The esteemed presence of Mr. Dhruv Mittal, Treasurer, Arya Shiksha Mandal and Doaba College Managing Committee, the teamwork of the Coordinators of the event, Prof. Sukhwinder Singh and Dr. Suresh Mago, the Organizing Secretaries of various Committees, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff and Students made the event a success.
