Student Welfare Committee of Doaba College, Jalandhar organized intracollege online competitions of declamation, folk dance and folk song on Matribhasha Diwas. This day is celebrated every year on 21 st February (as declared by UNESCO) to promote the use of mother language and to highlight the linguistic diversity of our
country.

Students were informed about the competitions through a notice which was circulated among different departments through whatsapp groups on 14 february,2022. There were enthusiastic registrations by the students from various departments for all competitions.The students submitted their recorded videos on various themes as per the event guidelines. The finest videos were shortlisted by a judgement panel from the college on the basis of content, articulation, voice modulation, presentation etc. and were uploaded on the official facebook page of the college.The final score was consolidated on the basis of marks given by the panel and weightage given to the likes, views and shares of videos uploaded on the Facebook page.

The results were declared on 21st February i.e. on Matribhasha Diwas through social media. In Declamation, Kalpana Bhatia of BAJMC-5th sem bagged the first position and Amisha of B.com(FS) 5 th sem and Meetali of MAJMC 1 st sem jointly shared the second position. In Folk Dance, Kanishka Sharma of BAJMC 1st sem stood first and second position was won jointly by Gavendeep Singh & Ganga Singh of B.Sc IT 1st sem and Gunveen Kaur of BABEd.3rd sem. Lastly, in Folk Song competition, Aarti of BABEd. 1 st sem stood first, Vanshika Chadha of BCA1st sem got the second position and the third position was shared by Anmol Padam of BAJMC 3rd sem and Gurpreet Kaur of BAJMC 5th sem.
